Rebekah Moran

Hi, my name is Rebekah and HSE2 rocks! I came into the program with high expectations, and I’m walking out of it with my goals completed. During my solo time, God showed me a lot. He took my proud, sarcastic heart and broke it and is remolding it every single day. Through HSE2 God has really shown me that I need to stop taking opportunities for granted and not just let it slip away, which I still do a lot. But God is right there every single time to pick me up and direct me to the right path. Most of my life one of my prayers was, “Jesus, please reveal Yourself to me so I can 100% know You are there.” I was such a foolish girl; God was standing right in front of me the whole time, I just needed to open my eyes. God revealed Himself to me in His creation: the trees, grass, flowers, ocean… anything that He created shines with Jesus’ love, which is so amazing. God is “legit.” He is my everything. People think that Christianity is boring and all about rules. PSYCH. It’s been an adventure every single day. I love having a relationship with Jesus Christ. He is my everything, and Jesus loves you!

I feel like God has done an amazing work on me throughout this whole HSE2 experience. You see, before I came upon this program, I was a total “Christian-ese” faker. I used to complain to people about being “trapped inside a bubble some people like to call ‘Horizon.’” I realize now how awesome it really is to be there in my situation. I used to get force-fed the Gospel all my life, but now that I’ve begun to mature in spirit, mind, and body, I can finally see it all in context. Now I truly understand what it means to be a child of God; to be blameless and harmless; to be on fire for Jesus! I have officially bonded with the new love of my life, and I want to share His love with everyone I come into contact with. So, please let me help you, and be helped, along this path that we take to righteousness.
I have found new meaning, mainly in two Bible verses. The first—which I have heard time and time again—is found in 1 Timothy 3:16, and it basically says that the Gospel is good for teaching, rebuking, correcting, encouraging, and lots of other good stuff. This verse, I feel, is telling me that, whatever the situation, if I “live by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4), I really will be ok!
The second verse is rather common, and it says, “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, let your mind dwell on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
Well, anyways, I guess what I’m trying to say is I feel like, and I want to be like, Christ. My new life goal in this life is to be uplifting and encouraging in everything that I do. I know that I know I will not always “have it all together,” but I want to be there for YOU whenever you need a listening ear. I don’t want to accidentally write an essay, so I’ll just list some other important verses that spoke to me: Proverbs 12:1, Ephesians 4:14-15, Philippians 1:21-24, Matthew 5:37

Jake O’Connell

Hi, my name is Jake O’Connell, and in my month at HSE2 God put a lot of things into perspective for me. He showed me that the smallest act of kindness towards someone else can make a big difference in their life. God also showed me that every action has a counter-action, and if you take responsibility for your actions, God honors that. This month at HSE2, God has helped me out with so much in my life, and I thank Him for all the leaders and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

I found out about HSE2 from my cousin, Shiloh. I had a lot of fun over this month. I’m hoping to be able to come back next year. Over this month, God has shown me to give all my problems to Him, so I can be worry-free and focus on Him more. He also taught me to swallow my pride and ask for help every once in a while so I don’t hurt myself. I’ve realized that I should think about the consequence of the action before I do it. I just want to thank everyone that helped me and was there for me over the class.
