Mike MacIntosh started a home Bible Study with approximately 10 people in 1974 in San Diego. Driving two hundred miles round trip each week and within six months there were several hundred people studying together.The ministry grew into Horizon Christian Fellowship. Mike’s love for Evangelism inspired him to begin the School of Evangelism in 1977 after a trip through Asia the previous year. Mike was an intern Pastor, trained by Pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, California, where he learned his love to win people to Jesus and then disciple them in Jesus and send them out to multiply for Jesus.

Sandy MacIntosh
Sandy surrendered her heart and life to Jesus Christ over 30 years ago in Corona del Mar, California. Sandy’s husband, Mike, is the Pastor of Horizon Christian Fellowship in San Diego, California. Over 100 churches and para-church organizations have grown out of this congregation worldwide. Sandy has spoken evangelistically and as an encouragement to pastors’ wives and women across the United States and internationally. She currently teaches two weekly women’s Bible studies at Horizon. Sandy attended Stephen’s College and Long Beach State University. Sandy and Mike live in San Diego and have five children, eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Jim HesterlyJim Hesterly
Pastor Jim Hesterly is the founder of Acts 1:8 Ministries, Inc., which was formed to encourage and equip the church and individual believers in the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Jim has been in Calvary Chapel ministries since 1970 and was the founding Pastor of Calvary Chapel at Poway, California for sixteen years and served as an assistance pastor for two years at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, teaching about the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. Jim is the author of Touched by His Spirit, and together with his wife June, they have written and published a booklet, God’s Promise of Power. They have also published three study guides that are being used in conjunction with Pastor Chuck Smith’s books Living Water, Why Grace Changes Everything and Calvary Chapel Distinctives. Jim presently speaks at churches, retreats, and conferences throughout the U.S. and internationally. He formerly served as Director of the Horizon School of Evangelism and has been a guest speaker at HSE, teaching about the Ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Lu WingLu Wing
Dr. Wing has been a pastor/teacher with Horizon Christian Fellowship since 1998 and Calvary Chapel Bible College, Murrieta, CA since 2005. Currently, as a pharmaceutical consultant with Cardinal Health in La Jolla, CA, he is building relationships with the universities, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical communities of San Diego. While serving at Azusa Pacific University as the Director of Sponsored Research and Grants, Dr. Wing was also an Associate Professor of Microbiology. He has a been an Adjunct Professor in Microbiology with the San Diego Community College District (1995-2004); San Diego State University (1998-2004); University of San Diego (2001-2005). Dr. Wing holds a B.A. in Cell and Molecular Biology from San Francisco State University, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Aberdeen.

Rob GlickmanRob Glickman
Born into a Jewish family just outside New York City, Rob grew up as the grandson of immigrants who had fled the intense persecution of the Jews in Eastern Europe during the early 1900′s. After moving to San Diego, CA in 1979, Rob began playing music professionally in nightclubs and concert halls at the age of 16, sharing the stage with such bands as The Clash, UB40, Madness and later, Johnny Winter, Leon Russell and the Coasters.

Rob began attending Horizon Christian Fellowship in San Diego in 1982, and served as a pastor on staff between 1992–1999. Rob has been Pastor of Horizon Park Chapel in Downtown San Diego since 1995, as well as Pastor of Horizon City Church in Downtown San Diego since 2007. The two churches are very active in outreach to Urban San Diego, to the homeless, single mothers and kids in crisis. He is also a Chaplain with the San Diego Police Department and served in New York City during the 9-11 World Trade Center tragedy. Rob has a passion for teaching through the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, while bringing out the Jewish personality and Hebraic roots of the Scriptures.

Wayne KindeWayne R. Kinde
Wayne Kinde has been on pastoral staff at Horizon Christian Fellowship in San Diego, California since September 2006. He is now also the Dean of Students for Horizon College. Before coming to Horizon, Mr. Kinde served for eight years as the Sr. Vice President and Publisher at Thomas Nelson publishers in Nashville, Tennessee, overseeing the Biblical Reference, Academic & Professional, and Church Curriculum divisions. Wayne holds a B.A. in Bible, a B.A. in Pastoral Studies from Northwestern College, a Masters in Theology from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, and is completing his work on a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies. Besides various pastoral responsibilities, Mr. Kinde is adjunct professor of Bible at Horizon College San Diego and teaches various Bible seminars around the country

Chaz YandallChaz Yandall
Chaz and his wife, Terrie, have been missionaries in the Philippines since 1991. Terrie was a graduate of the Horizon School of Evangelism (class of 1991), and during their practicum Chaz went with the HSE class to the Philippines. Chaz served as an assistant pastor in Horizon’s High School Ministry for four years before they answered the call to the mission field. Chaz and Terrie have 6 biological children and 20 children that they have either adopted or are currently in the process of being adopted. Chaz will be commuting from the Philippines to serve with the Horizon School of Evangelism.

Phillip MacIntosh

Phillip has had the great opportunity to be a part of Horizon Christian Fellowship from birth. God has allowed him to travel all over the world and witness the power of His Holy Spirit at work.He graduated for the Horizon School of Evangelism in 1998. For several years he served as director of 1-800-HIT-HOME: The National Youth Crisis Hotline. He also was the pastor at Horizon Christian Fellowship, UTC for three and a half years. Currently, he serves at Horizon in San Diego. He has an amazing wife, Bethany, and three beautiful children.

Sherwood PattersonSherwood PattersonHSE Graduate 2003
Sherwood has been part of the Horizon ministry team since 2001, serving as a home fellowship leader, American Red Cross Chaplin, and pastoral counselor. After graduating from HSE in 2003, he and his wife were commissioned and sent out from Horizon as cross cultural missionaries to help pastor and pioneer a church plant in Tokyo, Japan. In 2009 he completed his bachelors degree in Biblical Theology through Horizon College. Sherwood is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity through Azusa Pacific University and serves on the pastoral staff at Horizon, providing mentorship and training for the missions community.

Cesar GervasiCesar Gervasi
Cesar has been an assistant pastor with Horizon Christian Fellowship since 2004. He was born and raised in Lima, Peru. An architect by profession, Cesar started in 1985 the Peruvian Christian band “La Semilla” (The Seed) with the goal to share the gospel in colleges and universities. With them he toured extensively, ministering throughout Peru, North America, and Europe. In 1997 He and his wife, Veronica, moved to the United States. After serving for two years as a worship leader for a Hispanic congregation in Los Angeles, Cesar and his family moved in 2003 to San Diego after the Lord opened the doors for him to serve as an intern pastor at Horizon. In 2008, Cesar went back to Peru as a missionary to his own country, teaching at the CC Bible College in Lima for one year. He currently serves in pastoral care and oversees the Spanish Ministry at Horizon. Cesar and Veronica have two children, Andrea (10) and Sandro (7).

Jeff KuhnJeff KuhnHSE Graduate 2004
Jeff earned his BA in International Economics from Sonoma State University, having studied Spanish in Queretaro, Mexico from 2001-2002. Jeff attended the Horizon School of Evangelism in the spring and fall of 2004. Upon graduating from HSE 2 in January 2005, Jeff joined the ministry team at HSE and has served in leadership until this point. Jeff has served as the HSE 1 overseer, HSE 2 overseer, and assistant director. Jeff serves as a teacher and leader of HSE. He teaches Romans and leads the weekly outreaches and the semester practicum. Jeff is married to Angela and they serve together in the ministry with their two boys, Jediah (4) and Joel (2).
