Experiential Learning:

Weekly Outreaches
Every Wednesday students engage in hands-on ministry. From sharing testimonies or leading worship at drug rehabilitation centers to street witnessing on the San Diego beaches, Friday outreaches expose students to a variety of ministries. Friday outreaches provide an excellent opportunity for students to more clearly understand their spiritual gifts and calling.

Dovetail
Dovetail is a great day of serving at Dovetail Ministries, a Christian ministry in Los Angeles, California. Students and staff spend the day loading boxes with food to be distributed to the needy in our community and around the world. This is a blessed day of fellowship and hard work for the Lord.

HSE1 Wilderness Trip
The Wilderness Trip is a physically, spiritually and interpersonally challenging 5-day backpacking trip. The purpose of this wilderness trip is to take students out of their normal environment in order to experience God in a fresh way, establish loving relationships with their classmates, take new steps of faith, and grow in their servant-leadership. Time spent hiking, cooking at bonfires, and engaging in powerful discussions and teaching makes this a dynamic week for all.

HSE2 Nehemiah Challenge
The Nehemiah Challenge is a 5-day challenge for HSE2 students to dig deep into the principles of the Book of Nehemiah. HSE2 students will renew their understanding of who God is and how significantly He intends to use their lives and direct their ministries. Drawn intimately into God’s leadership principles through challenging teachings and team-building activities, students reveal a new facet of their own potential to be a servant leader.

Practicum
Part of what makes HSE such a unique and powerful discipleship experience is the opportunity to apply the lessons and Biblical principles that are learned throughout the semester. The three week practicum provides the students with opportunities to put into practice the training they have received during the semester. Through growing in their ability to love others, growing in their integrity, stepping out in faith daily, engaging in evangelism, and practicing servant-leadership, the HSE1 practicum equips students for future ministry.
